This Is How I Look After My Oscars

right i have had 2 oscars in my 5foot rio 400 for around a month now this is how i look after them, any suggestions on changes that should be made to diet etc.. would be much apreachiated as i am pretty new to oscars.

-water change/vacum about 25% twice a week
-fed flakes at 8am
-lights on at 6pm
-feed two mosquito larve frozen blocks each at nite around 9pm
-lights out at 9.30pm

still havnt clean filters out (x2 fluval 305's)


does this seem ok to you?

think its ok apart from the flakes,they would do much better on cichlid pellets, and prawns once a week, a great big fish like oscars wont be getting full on woosey flakes

Seeing how your oscars are quite large, don't they need some greens (vegetables) in their diet every so often to help prevent HITH?

while flakes can be a pretty good source of nutrition, they are much messier than sticks (cleaner) and pellets (cleanest). I feed mine sticks 3 times a day, substituting peas once a week as well as homebred guppies every once and awhile. my oscar is very healthy and growing fast. have fun
