Hey Lovelies.
I just found out why I was losing ramshorn snails so much... My fry have developed a taste for escargot.
Poor tiny snails, saw how Hoppy nipped a snail till it got cut to pieces. -.-

Hey Staxx, not the best pics but those look like Bolivian Rams to me. Are they like 2 inches long and do they have blue on them or pink on the fin tips?

theres a few more pictures in my thread in new world cichlids. can you take a look?

and i think the belly is due to just being fed before the pic on bloodworms :p

Judging from those crappy pics I can't tell for sure. Also, if they're only an inch or so long, it's hard to see the defining features. Bolivians don't have neon blue specks on their sides...........like this pic shows here:

so im guessing germans?

the pictures are the best i can get tbh. iphone WITH the HDR setting on loool.

My best guess would be these are German Blue Rams. They probably aren't coloring up correctly because on the low temperature and/or the water pH & hardness.

Maybe the fish shop would let you exchange them for Bolivian Rams? Bolivians are much hardier, larger and their water parameters work very well withmany other fish.

Again, I'm not sure what they are from these pics, Germans have much more color with yellow, blue, some pick, black spots & stripes, etc.

yeah ive turned my heater up to 25 which is bottom end of the rams range. i could probs go to 26 at a stretch which is top end of my danios range. everything else will be alrite.

and these are tank bred. i rang the shop i got them and they said there ph is about the same as mine but it wouldnt matter as there tank bred so a lot hardier than normal.

UPDATE!

I can't believe I didn't notice this earlier, doh! Bolivians have a lyretail where German tails are flat. These are very un colorful Germans in my opinion. :good: What are you keeping their tank temp at? F please.........

You could try adding more bog/driftwood to your tank to naturally lower the pH a bit. The tank temp is very important too.
