I guess it all depends on your budget, but I'm sure you could find something cheaper used, around same price or around $80 that comes with stand, maybe even lights :hyper:

Hey Loverlies!

Just got home from work and I hit the local Petco on the way. They have one 55 gallon tank available for their $1 per gallon sale!!! They didn't have any 40 gallon breeders but he said they were supposed to get some in soon. I think I'd prefer the 40 gallon since it has a slightly larger footprint, even though it's only 3 feet long instead of 4 like the 55 gallon. Height and length is not as important to me as the ground space but it seems nobody makes any good cabinets for 40 breeders. Cabinets for 55 gallon tanks are everywhere. The cabinet is important to me because I want it to hide the filter, wires & the rest of the stuff. I'm so confused and don't know what to do!!!!

I have until the 21st of this month to make a choice............... :S

Hey Lovelies!
I put a giant cube of ice in the tank, my hoplo and lyretail were playing with it. I've filled an even bigger cube, going to wait a few hours before I can put it in though. Took a pic but got to recharge my phone.

Pics or it didn't happen:

Looks like Tzuppy is holding that one cube up.............

Yeah, but it was floating on its own, he was just sniffing it. If he could stick his tongue out, he'd be licking the cube.

Also, it seems like Bee just ate a tiny black lyretail fry I nicknamed Halftail... She was chasing it around today. -.- RIP tiny fry. Unless he's hiding somewhere. Usually that one surviving fry that grew in the tank still hides under the bogwood...

If they are out of the tank you want when you decide, you can get a raincheck for the sale price. I did that at petsmart for my 75g. They didn't have it in for a month after the sale ended, but I had a raincheck and got the sale price. :good:

Well the new tank plan is on hold anyway, dear wife put the kabosh on my evil scheme. :grr:

I guess she's right or I'd argue it more. I don't even have a designated place for the tank, y'know little stuff like that. Besides, the best time to upgrade would be in the winter when I have no yardwork to get in the way of my fishkeeping.

At least now I'm free to get a new canister filter.............

Are you using the ice cubes to cool the tank temp down? That might be a good idea for my father's tanks. Old people are frugal (cheap) and he doesn't air condition the room where the tanks are kept. Tossing in a couple of cubes is a lot less expensive than getting a chiller.

A frozen water bottle would work perfect Ruskell. I have to do that here when it's over 100 degrees. Even With A.C.

Well, i tried, but it only lowers it to 32C. At least the fish enjoy playing with the cubes. It's like ice cream for them. Lol.
Glad it doesn't turn them to the side like it did with my gold barbs and neons when I fed them frozen (not defrosted) bloodowrms.
I wonder if my new cube and iced bottle are ready... these are bigger...

Hey Lovelies! Got a 3rd female, seems like the ladies are acting calmer now.

Hey Loverlies!

Since I'm not getting my new bigger tank I have free reign to get the canister filter. I just heard back about the USED Eheim Pro 2226 for $80 plus $22 shipping for a total of $102. I can get the NEW Rena Filstar XP2 for $101 with free shipping.

I leaning towards the brand new Rena XP2 since I already have a Rena and they'd share some parts but I've always heard how great the Eheims are.

Which one would you get? Any input would be greatly appreciated. I would like to do the deal by tomorrow evening, regardless which I choose.

Thanks in advance, Lovelies.
