Piti, I would bet that at least 10% of the fish sold as young females are really males. Nobody is kidding you on that account. When I want to pick up some females, I don't just let the shop people pick them out. I can often spot an immature male and avoid at least that it of trouble. More recently, I have started to go into the non-splendens part of the Betta world and am finding it fascinating compared to merely worrying about colors and finnage.
