Tank Size

well im thinking of getting another tank and would like to keep 6 bala sharks and 6 clown loaches in there what woould be an appropriate size ?

A 6x2x2' would be the bare minimum for bala sharks and clown loach.

just worked out the tank size that will fit 68x24x30 comes in at around 800litres i think

Yeah; trouble is the bala sharks need length; the depth and width don't matter that much to them (as log as they can turn around easily, obviously!). You're right on the limit for size with 5.6'; my mum has bala sharks in a 5x2x2 and that's not long enough, IMO (but it's my mum, so what can I do?)

Tell her you will have the 5x2x2 in payment for the sound advice and she can buy a new 6x2x2

Yes, 6*2*2 is absolute bare minimum.. I used to look after some adults in one closer to 8*4*4 and they looked cramped even in that.

Wow this sounds great!! An absolute ideal tank for these would be something like a 6ft 8 long by 2 foot tall by 2.5 foot wide - just for the extra turning space.

In a big tank like this your going to see brilliant growth on them and they will probably attain the upper end of their size limit and push over a foot long!

You could have more than just 6 clown loaches in there too, 20 would look awesome aaaahh its like thinking about what you would do when you win the lottery..

it should be fun to do, im tempted to build the stand for it myself but dont want it to collapse because the tank is going to be very heavy, need to decide on lighting for it too still dont know what lighting to get if im honest so help on that would be appreciated
