I dont get why he has a protien skimmer on it? Only reason he has managed is luck - I also suspect that that tank is not 4x2x2 it does not look big enough

No way that tank is as big as he claims! My biggest tank is the same height and length as he claims his tank to be, but narrower. And I can tell you know, my tank is far bigger than his.

Ugh, goldfish, oscar, angels . . . just OMG. OK, so if the combination works in a really big tank blah blah but seriously, that tank is far too small for those fish and I can't understand how he has kept them together without major problems.

I've asked him why he's keeping cold and tropical fish together and why he has put a protein skimmer on it. Odd, very odd. Truly disgusting and I am surprised that the Oscar hasn't taken out the Angels...

If you're not keeping a fish in a setting where it is able to exhibit natural behaviours then I can sorta see how it works. Nothing feels any more comfortable than something else, and there are the goldfish which are the same size as the O... So all in all no one can establish a territory and therefore no defensive aggresion.

However I do expect there is agression... just that it's dampened down by the large number of fish.

I do agree with the above that I don't think it actually is a 4 x 2 x2 but pictures can be decieving.

Because my last tank broke so we had to acclimatise the coldfish to live in the tropical tank also goldfish in a tropical tank makes them grow faster And bigger I have a protein skimmer because the goldfish and the oscar are large dish and produce alot of waste which the protein removes I you look on the picture you will see some simmate produced by the skimmer I also run a uv steriliser onthe tank to minimise pathogens and infections in the aquarium And I use RO water for the water changes

Sounds like alot more effort and money than neccesary when you could just keep them in the correct conditions to begin with... They're definitelt making alot more work for themselves. But to be fair they are planning on upgrading according to the ad. I just wish they were upgrading and keeping this tank so they could split some fish up.

I reckon (silly as it sounds) that the bigger the tank is the more likely the person is to have issues with the fish... soon as the O can claim a territory worth defending it could get messy...

I don't know. We don't know the full story. I just can't imagine an Oscar putting up with so many other fish in such a small tank for too long, particularly pretty fast swimmers like goldfish.
The bloke may have taken the photos at a particularly calm moment, or after they've just been fed.

Whatever his excuses, cold and tropical should not be together, and as for wanting to grow the golds on quicker, it's just madness.

The protein skimmer sounds like an idea designed to minimize water changes as well, and to try and compensate for poor filtration. Nothing matches up to waterchanges and decent filtration for these fish though.

As an Oscar owner it infuriates me that people could keep this fish in such a manner, but at the end of the day there is nothing that can be done
