Sudsy Ammonia In Tank

My bf is doing a fishless cycle and apparently added sudsy ammonia to his tank (he didn't know what it was til it started foaming). His tank is 55 g and he said he added a bit more than a tablespoon. Is there some way to salvage his tank after that? I was under the impression that any soap that goes into the tank renders it useless, but wanted to ask if there was some hope still?

From what I was told, if you use ammonia with a surfactant in it (the stuff that makes it suds), you're out of luck and have to start from scratch. You'll need to rinse/scrub everything down first, though. Sorry!
