Sudden Ph Increase, Why?

Ok so i've just done some tests on my tank and can't figure out how my ph has rose so high in just 2 weeks? tank ph is always usually about 7.6

Results were

ammonia: 0
nitrite: 0
nitrate: 5
ph: 8.2
ph from tap: 7.4

Any ideas? as there are no rocks and the gravel is only the natural dorset type which i wouldn't have thought would have made too big a difference.

The only chemical thats gone in is tetra aquasafe (pond version) although admittedly i may have overdosed it a bit, would this have done it do you think?

Maybe, you could do a test yourself, put some water in a jug, leave it overnight with an overdose of dechlor and see what it does. I know that some dechlor (cant remember which ones) can raise your ph, but aquasafe isnt one of them that I know of.

That is strange, maybe the water company have changed something they do there end
but thats what my water is in my tank's and my fishe's do just fine

I would blame substrate for dissolved carbonate compounds provisionally. Do a vinegar test on a sample of your substrate.
