Stocking Plan...

Having been back to the drawings board, ive come up with this:

6 x Longfin Zebra Danio (Danio rerio)
6 x Sunset Platy (Xiphophorus variatus)
6 x Red Phantom Tetra (Hyphessobrycon sweglesi)
6 x Peppered Cory (Corydoras paleatus)
2 x Clown Pleco (Panaque maccus)
10 x Rummynose Tetra (Hemigrammus bleheri)

This leaves 20% stocking left...

any suggestions for a larger / Solitary / Specimen fish that would live happily with these?

hmmm they look pretty nice... still open to suggestions. aqadvisor suggests the rams may be too aggresive when mating/spawning with the rummy nose tetra..

nice suggestion though... ta.

I think you may already know this but a couple of notes; for the sunset platies get 2 males and 4 females and get driftwood for the clown plecos. Your temperature needs to be around 23-24C, pH 6-7.5 and hardness range 5-15 dH. Do a weekly 39% water change and you can stock 19% more fish. Why not try an African knifefish? It's quite random but just a random idea...

ive seen the knifefish... How big/suitable are they when fully grown?

Those stats are exactly what my tank is now.

been and bought 6 peppered cory this morning, theyre all about 3/4"

going for ten rummy nose tetras tomoro morning then going to leave the tank to adjust for a couple of weeks with the larger bioload.

Obviously its your decision, but personally, I would let the corys settle in with your danios until at least mid-week.

Rummys are lovely little fish when they are happy (when the red chins really glow), they might be worth waiting just a few more days for, allowing the vital bacteria to adjust to the increasing bioload from the corys before another school arrives?

The last thing I would wish on you is an uncontrollable ammoia and nitrite spike, which your corys will really hate you for, possibly with their lives :(

aqadvisor suggests the rams may be too aggresive when mating/spawning with the rummy nose tetra..
not a chance

if u like them, there is no compatability issue with any of the fish you've mentioned so far, including the fighting fish.

also, i agree with the above poster. it would be best if u waited close to a week before adding the rummies.

one last note, when stocking tanks, it might seem like a good idea to jam as many fish in as possible (100% or a little over with increased maintenance) for the visual appeal of colour and activity, but sometimes less really is more.

were only looking at adding each stock/breed every month, once weve got some bottom feeders and another shoal in...

ie the corys that we have and a shoal of 10 rummys.

May leave it till wednesday then... still getting double 0's out of the tank, but i appreciate it takes a while to release the ammonia...

meguro... you'd be happy with the red fin sharks? Can they be kept in just a two?

epalzeorhynchos frenatum is quite a different fish to mikrogeophagus altispinosus

it doesnt matter what fish i'd be happy with, it isnt my tank. u should state which one of the above u prefer more

it is inadvisable to keep multiple e. frenatum in the same tank

edit: not breed, but species

i love the red fin shark... Id rather have one of them as a specimen with my community that the rams or knifefish.
