Stocking Idea'S Please

Hi all, well some of you know im downgrading to just one tank and planning a nice peaceful sort of community setup. I usually keep plecs and cory's and TBA i really don't know what to stock this tank with.

Tank is a Rio 180 ltr, ph around 6.8(ish), temp will be a constant 28-30, lightly planted im thinking.

Inhabitants which will be there are a group of 6 cory's, two L260's and a breeding pair of GBR's.

I'm looking at something which will be nice and peaceful but will withstand a little chasing if the rams are guarding eggs, not really interested in live bearers unless they are pretty rare to the hobby and nice looking. No killifish fish (don't like them lol).

So come on peeps, what do you think?

Gonna be hard to try and please me i thinks lol, TBH both fish suggested aren't my cup of tea.. sorry

Not very helpful at all, if that was the case and i new already i wouldnt have asked the question.

The whole point to it all is to get some idea's, not fish i already know.

lol, i did laugh at the "make a list and choose" response

not sure i can add anything useful myself but how about a few celestial pearl danio? (Galaxy rasbora) They were on the front of a recent PFK i saw and they are stunning fish.

Excellent choice m8, i did actually think about these myself, ive had them in the past and found they wasn't very hardy fish, i brought a group of 20 i think it was and it cost me a small fortune..they all just seemed to drop off one by one and ever since then ive tended to steer clear lol,

If i can find a reliable source this time it could very well be an option though so thankyou

At the time they were £6.95 each and i got a discount for the 20 but i think i still payed about £120 for them to drop like flies within a couple of months. I guess it's not alot of money really considering ive spent double that on a plec but for general community fish i think it's a lot lol

£120!! man I would have been devastated! Have to admit prices like that put me off schooling fish.

Good purebred rainbows cost 10 to 20 dollars per fish. I spent $132 plus shipping for my turquoise rainbows. At 12 fish, that's $11 per fish plus shipping (another $50) making them $15 each! Of course in a LFS you can buy some poor quality ones for about $10 each, but you get what you pay for.

Wow, £120 and $132 is dedication to your tank. I think i would have tried a couple and see how they fared.

But i agree with drobby you really do get what you pay for with some species.

ok then

if i were you i would go for a nice group of mixed danios, 10-20 galaxy rasboras, 2-3 headstanders

try to avoide bottom strata fish because the rams will attack them more since they are closer to the nest (spwaning site)

make sure you do a fishless cycle then the galaxy rasboras will not 'drop dead like flies'
