I have a new 350 litre tank (Juwel Rio 300) which has been running for a few weeks now. I have put my old two and a half inch Plec in on his own, and its my intention soon to add 2 Young Oscars, 3 Parrot Fish and 4 or 5 TinFoil Barbs. I would like something like Clown Loaches to join the Plec down the bottom of the tank. Is this likely to work, or will the Oscars grow too quick and eat the Clown Loaches. If so, is there another bottom feeding fish or two that you would suggest?

I dont want to overcrowd!!!

Thanks.

350L is well to small for that stock list mate!!! you could probably get away with 1 Oscar,2 parrots and a few clown loachs tho.

Longterm it is nowhere near big enough for 2 Oscar and 3 Parrots 4 Tinfoils and one Common Plec

At only 92 USG, You would be looking at nearer 1 Parrot, 1 Oscar, 3 Tinfoils, 1 plec and then a few other bottom dwellers, (i.e. Hoplos, Clowns, Raphaels, Bichirs etc.)
and even then you would require some hefty filtration.

Not too mention that with 2 Oscars you are very likely to have one turn on the other once they mature,

If you decide on Clown Loach then you would need to either buy them large, or give them a very good head start in the tank, because as you say, the Oscar may outgrow them and try to eat them,

may i suggest you research all of the fish you have listed.. i have 1 full grown oscar ( 12 inches) in a rio 300 ( old 300L) and i wouldn`t dream of adding another ..never mind umpteen , parrots ,tin foils and clown loaches with a plec .......... infact its a b***y stupid idea.
and i wouldnt worry about them getting big enough to eat eachother .. with a stocking list like that they possibly all die from bad water quality ( unless your planning a sump)

 @ don`t want to over crowd!!!!!!!

Pushing it even with a sump Shelagh, I have a sump on my 300l and it couldn't keep water quality tip top with that stocking list. Like I said in the other thread by the OP, I would stick to one O and a Pleco.

eh - I disagreed with your statement that he could get away with an oscar, 2 parrotts and a few clown loaches!

i would go with this stocking. 1 oscar , 1 possibly 2 parrots , plec , birchir or a group of four pictus cats.

I still say stick to plec and oscar OR other fish - not along with other fish - these 2 are messy, big fish and not the best to overstock with in 350l (which is about 93gal)
