Hi all,

I am getting an Aqua 40, and it doesn't come with a heater, would I be better off getting a 25W or 50W heater?

Sorry, thats a really stupid question..

Thanks, D.

50W would be better, a 25W would be on constantly trying to keep up to temp. Theres no difference in price, not that ive found, so go 50.

I have an Aqua 40 for Mango (used to be my fry tank). That has a 50w Interpet heater in (about a tenner delivered from eBay).

Most LFS will sell a 50w for around £20, but you can get them easily for half that on eBay :good:

Don't hold back on wattage. The 50W and 25W may have as much as 75p difference in purchase price on line so get enough. If the wattage is a bit high, that gives a safety factor and the thermostat will just run the heater less to compensate. Total power consumed by a heater depends only on how much heat the tank loses to the environment. The heater adjusts the time it is on to match the heat loss so a 50 and a 25 cost the same to run on the same tank.
