I had fish as a kid. I always enjoyed them (in fact, they became one of my responsibilities as I got older) and kind of missed it. But, the clincher was when my son asked for a pet, and since my wife is allergic to anything with fur, fish became the easy choice. The official story is that we have fish for him, but the truth is that the fish are all mine! I decided everything about the tank. We were going to allow him to add a single piece of decor of his choosing, but he chose poorly... so I gently turned his attention to something else and he forgot about it! (The joys of short attention spans!) He does get to feed them under my supervision every so often. He often will sit with me and watch them, but mostly I look at them by myself! My wife said that she likes the look of the tank, and thinks she should be enjoying it more, but just never seems to. I'm trying to convince her that the tank would have been better in the living room (mainly so I can get a tank in there as well, but so far no soap).
