Sick Oscar

have you got another tank you can move him to?
just thinking that maybe your tank could do with a strip n dry out, just incase anything left from before.
i certainly wouldnt try tube feeding, they can go ages without food as someone said, stress can kill, have you tested the water? could be a spike?

i really hope he`ll be ok for you :(

The O is in his hospital tank

May well be internal bacterial infection/parasites, could have been a side effect from the columnaris (it was columnaris wasnt it, vaguely remember you losing the other one). I would run a course of meds for internal infection to be on the safe side.

I've moved him to a 90l hospital tank and he's trying hard to remain upright. Especially when I go to check on him.

Garlic pellets haven't tempted him though.

Drying out the big tank isn't really an option due to the other occupants being too big for the hospital tank (2 14 and 18 inch clarius) very strange all this though, I've not had a problem in there until the oscars went in :(

Ammonia and Nitrite have been 0 all the way through, I've tested every 2 days just to be on the safe side.

Would internal infection cause the falling sideways? And yes I think that it was columnaris or something related to it that got the other Oscar.

Thanks again for all your help you Oscar Loving Lot!

An internal infection could well interfer with the swim bladder I believe (someone correct me if Im wrong). The other thing it could be is constipation, have you tried some cooked shelled peas (hard I know if he wont eat), but that wouldnt look like he was skinny, he would look bloated. Skinnyness is sometimes a sign of internal parasites/infection, have you seen how he is pooing?

not seen any poo recently - but he's not bloated, definitely skinny.

Best internal bacteria med? Is interpet the only one?

Well he's been upright rather than on his side for 12 hours now. Dosed with interpet last night.

Still no interest in food and seems to be gasping constantly. Not swimming yet either, just maintaining a 'normal' upright position.

Got as much as possible in there, short of moving the pond pump but think that could be overkill on 90l :)

Water change later and see how he is.

what's your filteration like is it internal?if yes lift it abit so the flow is abit above water thus creating that much more surface algitation and create's more oxygen getting to him :good: if external try to lift the flow pipe so it creates same
