Sick Oscar

Well still improving, apart from the appetite he seems almost back to normal.

I'm thinking of moving him back down to the 4ft tank he was in before all this mess for a while.

He was sharing it with his pal who died, 2 bichir and a 7" gibbiceps so can't go back there for too long but think the 'familiar' surroundings may help...

Only 1 problem, my other Oscar, Shadow, who I was going to rehome is now in residence. He is about 1" smaller than Ghost (the sick one) and quite feisty, while Ghost is very laid back. Not sure how they will react to each other.

What are your thoughts? I'd like them to get along as Shadow is a tremendous personality and I have no real wish to rehome him now unless I absolutely have to.

to be honest i would leave him where he is and maybe add a few familiar bits from his old tank, i def wouldnt move him back to the other tank and with another oscar too, may finish him off stress wise.. its looking good for him so i really would be inclined to leave him where he is for a few days more

Im with Shelagh, I would leave him for now, let him regain his strength before another move and introduction to another O. How much of the course of meds is left to do?

One dose of interpet this evening. Going to do a water change first too.

Hurrah! He was out and swimming normally this morning - still not eaten that I've seen but he was at the glass like a puppy again when I went to check him :)

Thanks for all the help and advice - now how to get him eatling .....

Thats great news, whats his favourite food? Maybe some prawns? Little bits at a time, build his appetite back up.

He's eaten!!!! Hikari Cichlid Gold after coming and begging for food at his 'usual' corner. :)

Again, thanks for all the support, help and well wishes. From me and Ghost!

great result,

just takes time for them to be in the mood for eating, just think of it like us after a dose of the squits we aint too eager to eat just in case lol
