I have a 60cm x 30cm x 30cm tank with 10 Neons and a Pleco in it. Would it be ok to add 2 Siamese Fighting Fish (1m/1f) and 2 dwarf Dwarf Gourami (1m/1f) to the tank?

Will the male and female Siamese Fighting Fish fight or should they be ok in the tank?

Will the Neons and Dwarf Gourami eat the fins of the Siamese Fighting Fish?

Thanks for any help

Males and females should not be mixed unless you're breeding them, and even then, specialist knowledge is required.

You can't add even one, the gourami's are similar to Betta's in that they are both anabantoids, and are likely to attack each other.

Neons are 50/50, some nip, some don't, and some Betta's attack anything!

Am I right in saying that you have a 54ltr tank?

First off, the tank isn't big enough for your pleco.

You can't house female and male bettas together, I would suggest further research into this fish before purchasing. Now, saying that you could have 1 male only or have a couple of females (this is called a sorority). I would suggest a min. of 5 females, if you would like a group.

When stocking a tank, you need to think of territory, your pleco is at the bottom, neons in the middle and bettas at the top. Add in lots of plants and a few hiding places. I wouldn't advise adding bettas and gouramis in a 54ltr together, you would need something bigger and I think with gourmai's, it is a 1 male to 2 females ratio (someone may correct me on that).

So, I would personally suggest 1 male OR 5 females OR Gouramis but not to put any of these together.

I would suggest looking to rehome your pleco too, depending on the species will depend on it's size (BN/Bulldog - 5 - 6inches, common - 15 inches). You could replace this with 5 or 6 corys.

Follow the advice already given and don't mix betta with gourami. I tried adding paradise fish to the gourami tank. The gourami almost bullied them to death and I had to remove the poor paradise fish after 20mins to save their lives. They are now doing well in a separate tank

1 bn plec or bulldog will be fine common bns and bulldogs get to 4-5" max. i think 1 plec if it is one of the smaller ones + the noeons + a male betta will be fine.

i have 8 different adult gouramis and two MALE bettas and 4 females in one tank. tank is used to be 300L now 400+L.

all fish are undamaged and healthy....

i do pursue perfection... at all cost. i will not risk unnessary injury to the fish, its against Hinduism.

ps.. i keep tropical fish for 20+ years.

You'd need atleast a 70ltr tank for a BN pleco, remember that tanks that are not big enough, can stunt growth.

I would never suggest to keep males and females together, a 400ltr tank, means there is enough room that they don't have to cross but it will also put stress on the fish.

If you have no experience with bettas, research before setting up x

I think you can quite happily keep a bn plec and other fish in a 54l as long as there's good filtration. it wrong get stunted. Bns get to 5" max the tank will probably be about 24"X12"X12" which i think is fine for a bn or bulldog.

Why do you always bring this up. It puts un necessary stress on the fish. They where breed for the aggression and should not be kept together unless under special conditions when breeding. From the picks of your tank i saw a while ago the bettas where undamaged and healthy they had half there fins missing and there in with tiger barbs and angels if i remember correctly. The stocking in that tank it terrible and if im honest im surprised its lasted this long.

what i will do is ( not in 2'x1'x1' tank!) add the gouramis first and drop the male batta in holed bottle foe two or three days..

then release the batta and drop 3 or 4 f battas in 3 0r 4 bottles for two days and release..

should be ok... but tanks bust be set up wilt lots of plants and wood.

Seriously, please do not take MrPandaram's advice. it is reckless and uncaring.

The difference being here that your tank is a 400litre and this one isn't, in a bigger tank, when 2 fish come face to face, it gives them chance to swim away, whereas in a smaller tank this isn't as possible.

But whats the point? they where breed to be aggressive its not meant for them to be kept together unless under special conditions when spawning. Fair enough if you wan to keep your fish like this but dont try and get other people to. I guarantee at some point some fish in your tank will get seriously injured or killed whether its in weeks, months or years its just waiting to happen.
