i THINK its a female, either way you should love your fish

Ooo nice you don’t see many chocs and they are a lovely fish. I would say this one is Male as it has very pointed dorsal and anal fins. When they get bigger it’s easier though as males get a very square head where as females stay sloped

yeah i thought it was a female because of the rounded tail, but yes it needs to grow up

Most heroine type cichlids have paddle tails so don’t get the extensions on either gender like a geophagus for example

Hey everyone I’m 95% sure my chocolate is a male but just want some clarification on the smaller one. I got them for free from a breeder when I bought the tank and they were in horrible conditions and I wish I could’ve taken more but I brought them back from brink of death to now rough 2 and a half years later. And sadly the smaller one hasn’t really grown at all
