I've been told its a male 2 times, that's a female once (bc of the Orange edge on dorsal fin) and that it's too young to know once. I want to buy a pair of females tomorrow so I guess it doesn't matter if its male or female but they told me it was a male.
I don't know if the faded black line on its abdomen or its shape are indicators of the sex.

It looks more like the females I've had over the years. But it's young, and just because it has a trace of a broken dark line from nose to tail doesn't prove it's female - it could well turn out to be a male which loses that stripe as it matures. The orange edges to the fin mean nothing.

This is a photo of a female I had - I know she was female as she spawned with the male and produced eggs. Her fins were all orange not just the edges.

Okay, so I'll try to get 2 females tomorrow and in the best case I'll just have 3 females :)

The fish store guy said that it looked female to him too, so Sol is now Marisol (Sol for short xD).
They had Trichogaster chuna but the sunset or wild variety he wasn't sure and mine is gold, and said it may be like mixing wolves and dogs and that it may result in hybrids.
I thought as both where Trichogaster chuna there wouldn't be a problem but I didn't end up getting them and will wait until they have gold variety and my fish reaches a more sex-friendly maturity hahaha

When I had these, the males also had rather pointed tips at the posterior end of both the anal fin and especially the dorsal fin. Any black in the throat region is surely a male indicator as well. Your first pic does seem to show a faint brown line along the lateral line which helps make me lean towards thinking its a young female.

It has a much more black line in its lateral now, I'll try taking a pic tomorrow :)

Here it's the ones I could take, later when it's feeding time I'll try to get some more

Hi, normally, the dorsal fin is the main indicator of the sex of gouramis. The male has a more rounded end to the dorsal fin, while the female has a pointed end to the dorsal fin. This may not be as easy to spot in very young fish, but as they mature its very easy. I hope this helps.

It's usually the other way round; males have pointed fins, females have rounded fins.

Another reputed way is by the anal fin. In a female the end near the tail is supposed to go vertically upwards to join the body while in a male, the fin is supposed to go past the join point then curve back to join the body.
The honey gouramis I've had over the years, both natural and yellow, have never looked the way they are supposed to.

Haha, you're completely right, I stand corrected :)

That line is getting stronger, does it mean female?
Also, what's the red thing next to her eyes? The gills? Why is it so red?
