Seashore Drift Wood

Hi there, I realise that seashore drift wood may contain salt, but has anyone used it succesfully in the freshwater aquarium?

Is it a total no-no, because I've seen some lovely pieces at my local beach...

just soak it or boil it if possible..
it wouldnt contain enough salt to effect fish

Also bear in mind it probably won't sink, you may well have to silicon/screw it to some slate.

i used to use drift wood i used to let it soak in the water butt
out in the yard i use to make it sink in the barrel by tying
a brick to it and leave it for a minimum of 6 months then
boil it but that's the way i used to treat it
