hi,
what type of sand can i use in a tropical fish tank? can i use the childrens play sand are does it have to be special stuff?

If you're in the UK argos play sand £2.49 a bag or something similar is perfect for the tank. Just make sure you wash it first.

i oive in ireland and there are very few places that are fishy. does anyone know of any irish online fish shops that will deliver as the coice in local shops is rubbish.

my personal choice is pool filter sand
this can be found in any swimming pool supplies shop
or from any swimming pool maintenence company.

you can use any type of sand except builders sand or sharp sand
try sand blasting sand or silica sand (glass making sand)
look in yellow pages for suppliers near you under sand blasting or glass makers

also you can use silver sand, I got mine from howdens garden centre (klondykes) for £3.00.
