I looked into my tank this morning and saw that one of my sandsifting starfish is secreting green matter from it's body. It looks like a thick green matter coming out of it. It is still moving abouts the tank. The other sandsifter has nothing coming out of it. I finished testing my water paramaters and all is normal. Ammonia, nitrates, nitrites reading 0, ph is at 8.2 and sg a bit low at 1.021.

All other fish (snowflake eel, clown fish and dart fish 2 green emerald crabs) are out and about acting normal.

Well i just walked to the tank and noticed one of the arms is severd from the starfish. It is still moving about the tank.

Any suggestions/clues as to what is happening. Should i remove the starfish. Will the arm grow back?

Thanks

Is the arm severed or has it simply disintergrated? If its the latter then this is how starfish die.. they simply fall alart. However its also possible to save starfish in this condition but its very very rare and you really need to isolate it
