I also brought two new members to the tank, I bought two Kribensis (male and female).

Im thinking of getting some tall plants to go along the back, does anybody have any ideas which are the est plants to buy ??

Definately an improvement, a couple more plants and rocks to fill out the space a bit more and you'll have a lovely little tank there.

Amazon sword plants are pretty tough low-medium light plants.

Also, onion plants are good.

Anubias are good too, but are slow growing.

An air pump is going to keep the Co2 level right around 6-8 ppm, which is more than if you have little to no surface agitation.
So I would have an air pump in the tank, plus it will keep a healthy amount of oxygen in the water for the fish.

Nope, though a few people seem to think this, it doesn't make any sense.

If anyone can provide any figures that disagree with this, please PM me, continue the discussion in that thread or start a new discussion :good:.

Air pumps are bad for plants. That isnt to say that you cant grow plants brilliantly with one, but growth will be better (often significantly, depending n other limiting factors) without one.

Black background looks much better. A Hygrophila variety would be an great choice for the back, they are very undemanding and grow fast (helping to lower nitrates considerably). There's quite a few to choose from :). Tropica's website is pretty good for reading up on plants: http://www.tropica.com/default.asp, look at the species mentioned by members on the right hand side menu.

Okay, sorry for the misleading info.

No problem, best thing about this site is learning :good:.

For example, today I learnt that the Platydoras costatus (striped talking catfish) we see in tanks are in fact Platydoras armatulus.
