Recommend A Snail..

What is the best snail for me:

Must be largish.

Eat Algae.

Doesn't eat plants.

Live happily with MTS snails.

Golden Apple Snail?

not saltwater, but thier eggs will only develop in brackish water. I've got one living happily in my freshwater tank, pointlessly laying eggs everywhere!

Ah yes, think I read that somewhere. Where did you buy nerite snails by the way?

I'm reading conflicting reports whether Golden Apple Snails will eat plants? Anyoone got any experience?

my apple snails didnt touch my plants but i had a spixy apple snail that ate its way through its fair share.... now in a plantless tank

nerites should be available at any decent lfs, sometimes named as striped snails or candy or other names to try and sell them better

yep, they seem pretty common in the lfs near me....but popular also. Seem to be able to sell each batch really quickly.

all my plants were recently destroyed in just a week because of my mistake. Shame as they are very attractive snails and quite nimble in snail terms.

Yeah, I don't think I've ever seen the Nerites before in person. They always have the Golden Apple Snails though, will have a good luck next time I'm in the various shops.

mayaysian trumpet snails are amazing i got about 70 in my tank you can't even see them when the light is on but when its off they get to cleaning all the glass and all the ornaments and if you have sand they mix it up which i hear is good pretty much like little undergravel filters, only buy like 5 off ebay for £2 max and you will end up with loads after a month or so
