snails are usually an “Oh Yuck” topic for discussion… who wants billions of babies, and eggs all over the glass, hard structure, and plants but, they are much more interesting in the live bearer form, and only having one fully formed tiny little snail baby, at a time… my 3 trapdoors had one baby between them… they have not been here long enough for gestation, so the mother must have been pregnant when she arrived… these are in a 55 gallon tank, and you would think a 1/8 inch snail would get lost in a tank this size, but it prefers to stay on the glass, and so far has been easy to spot…
these are Viviparus malleattus ) Japanese Trapdoor snails… and from my reading the Viviparus species are all live bearers ( I’ve counted 3 different ones in the hobby, and all are live bearers )
anyone else raising the most interesting snails in the hobby???
