My friend Rebecca has a 55 gallon tank I helped her rescape in the past, so I thought I'd start to share its progress here. She *loves* angel and and rainbow fish. Unfortunately I forgot to save almost all of the pictures I've ever taken, so I'm starting over now. This is what her tank looks like as of 2/15/2025.

Edit: She sent me more pictures of her current livestock

That poor black neon looks lonesome. She's a shoaling fish that would be much happier in a group of 8-10. Rebecca would be happier with how the fish would look in a group.

Rebecca got new bottom feeders to replace her old ones. And albino long-finned pleco and a (Garra?).

Your friend needs some duckweed in the tank for the rainbowfish to eat. Duckweed is a small floating plant that usually does well in aquariums. Rainbowfish need a lot of plant matter in their diet (at least 50% of their diet should be plant based) and they love duckweed. If she doesn't want duckweed, then get her to replant the tank with plants like Ambulia and narrow Vallis. The rainbows will graze on them. You can also feed them vege flakes and small pieces of pumpkin, zucchini, cucumber, etc. Just make sure they are free of chemicals and remove uneaten food so it doesn't rot.

The American flag fish will do better with some plant matter in their diet too. :)

She has wafers high in plant matter. I got her some hornwort and guppy grass coming. She may get duckweed soon. There isn't as much locally as there was before...

I'm learning so much about Flagfish now! I thought they'd spread out in a colony like mbunas, but they seem to school like tetras(though they may've just been scared of new environment).
