i guess they werent!
i would have posted pics. but my new camera isnt done charging yet!
i will though.
it is pretty cool. one stayes over the eggs, the other at the edge of the territory,
i had another pair in there, but they were backed into the corner, so i moved them. the lemon tetras arent allowed anywhere near the spawn site!
its quite cool.
makes one cool display.
do you think i should take out the lemons?
it doesnt look like the parents will eat the eggs, as they are doing a good job defending them. but idk..... ill keep an eye out.
the tank is a 2o usg, and the ph is 6, and very soft.

expect pics tommorow!
thanks

oh, thanks much :)
the eggs look great! only a few were unfertilized, but the parents and i took them out!

unfortunatly, the mother lost interest in the eggs, then the father a couple hours later. they all got eaten!
oh well,
i wanted to try and see if i could get them to spawn and raise without the use of an artificial hatchery, but it looks like i have to.
in a few months, look in the buy sell and swap section for my baby rams!
lol
thanks

Hi Fish hobbyist,

I am learning alot from this site. Currently I have a pair of spawning Golden Bubble Ram kept in a 2 feet tank. I believe that the female is going to lay eggs soon because she is always hiding in a clay vase with a big tummy and a "short white tube" hanging out from the tummy. The male Ram is guilding the entrance. The male is bigger and darker orange colour compare to the female. The female is more rounded like a balloon. Hope that I can see some fry soon. Hope to post some Ram pictures soon.

How long have you had your Rams for? I'm trying to breed mine and haven't had any success, I believe it's because they are just getting situated.

Hi,

I bought my 2 Golden Bubble Rams 2mths ago at S$2.50 each. I let my tank cycle for 1 week before I add the Rams. I am lucky to have a pair of male and female Rams, as during captivity it is hard to differentiate because their colour is very fade. Prior to that I have 4 Blue Bubble Rams (S$1.50 each) but all died within 2 weeks, I guess they are not as hardy as the Golden Bubble Rams. I allow hairy algae to grow on the tank surfaces except the one facing me. Thinking that it is good for the frys. My tank is only equiped with overhead filter, sand bay, Red arrow plant(rotting now), rocks and clay vase. Fed them with live blood worms contained in a submerged sea shell which will last them for a week prior to next feeding.

Try to identify and keep them in a pair, do not introduce others. so that they will not be disturbed and allow they to court. Initiately they will fight and chase around but eventually when they reach their spawning age, they will get along and breed.

Good Luck!

Hi Guys,

The following is the picture of my Golden Bubble Rams:

For picture 1, notice that the female is having a bigger tummy.

For picture 2, notice the male on the left is darker orange and with a higher dorsal fin.

i have had my rams for about a month now. i keep them in most R.O , that gets the ph right (out of the tap, mine is 8.5-9.0) i feed them live brine, black worms, and bloodworms, and carried out water changes twice a week. i bought my rams for $ dollars a pair. here in colorado, they are in high demand and short supply. they can charge us whatever they want. i waited for about 3 months to find a young group, and i could only find my four. luckly, i got 3 males and a female. i put them in the tank after a drip acclimation, as the stores Ph was very high around 8.5 . they looked a little droopy for a few hours but then immediatly perked up. i found that have the other 2 rams in the tank helped, however, i must have done something wrong, as the parents lost interest in the eggs 2 days later. like i said, i had set up an artificial hatchery. i did, and it will be waiting for them.

bubble rams?
that like ballon mollies right?
ive never heard of them.

Hi,

Bubble=Balloon, see the picture attachment, you know what I mean.

http://i144.photobucket.com/albums/r180/ra...nBubbleRam6.jpg

Yes, Balloon Ram shape just like Balloon Mollies more rounded.
My pair of Golden Balloon Ram is still courting. The female with a bigger tummy tend to hide in a submerged vase, probably going to lay eggs soon. Will take some picture once she lays eggs. Just removed the rotting plant.

Wish me luck, pals!
