ive  only had my rainbow cichlids for two weeks and already we have hatched eggs.
they've laid them inside a fake log so its hard to tell how many there are, but Ive definitely seen
afew swimming about in there andi know they can lay up to 500 at a time.

love watching mum n dad protecting them. nipping and chasing anything that comes within inches of their hideout
cant wait to see thebabies emerging from the log when they are bigger just hope im not over run with them lol

Congratulations :) I have a lone male rainbow cichlid that is a monster, he thinks he is an oscar or something lol

lol. thanks
just see one escape n dad scooped him up in his mouth n put him back. bless
its nice watching fish take care of their young ones

You may want to invest in some brine shrimp eggs and start a hatchery. WHile most of the time the parents will do the dirty work, if this is their first breed they may not know how to be parents. I always supplemented with brine shrimp when I bred my fish. It ensured survival.

ah cool thanx for the info will defo get some xx

well mum and dad definitely are protective of their babies. another fish managed to enter their
hiding place which has resulted  in the parents killing it
