Rain Water.

Been collecting rainwater for my community for the last week, i have about 30 gallons of the stuff now.

If i'm going to use this for water changes, will i need to add anything to it or is it a case of it being filtered and heated to the right temperature then pumped in?

Be very wary.... Think of all the pollutants that get pumped into the air and mix in with clouds to then fall with the rain.

Yeah thats a good point, any way i can test the water for any of the main pollutants? there isn't a film of the rainbow coloured stuff you get in water thats got gas/petrol/desiel in it so i think i can rule that out

I could get a little filter up and running with Carbon in their which would remove the majority of toxins ?

IF I`m correct, rainwater lacks a lot of the minerals that tap water does and although that may be your main objective it may be wiser to add 1 part tap water to 3 parts rainwater. Your tank may suffer a crash if you use just the rainwater
The same would apply to RO water I believe, which is what I use

As you have Apistos you would need to change the PH of your water slowly, begin with 50/50 rain/tap water over the next 3 water changes, then up the ratio to 3:1 rain:tap.

Apistos are quite sensitive so if you make too big a change too soon you may risk losing them.
