Bristlenose
Fish Fanatic
Ok i have a few questions but first i will give you my tank info.
its a 43 litre tank. with a sting ray filter, temp is 24oC, all water levels etc are normal.
Currently has 3 honey gouramis, a neon Dwarf male gourami, a lone tetra (his mates died years ago), 3 corydoras, 2 octocinculus, and a mystery algae eater!
i have kept various tropical fish for 4 years
Questions
I was told the algae eater will not get to big, but i am concerned it will. I previously had a bristlenose that got to big and i had to part with him, what other algae eaters would you recommend?
, the octocinculus seem useless and my dwarf neon has attacked and killed 2 already.
What do you think this one is, i think it may be another bristlenose as it seems very different than when i bought it. Its now black, with very very dark brown patches (no bristles yet but it may be female). is around 2 inches long and has a white dot on the very tips of its pectoral fin and tail fin. I was told it would max out at 4"Any ideas?
if i add to female neons to my tank would it Help distract the neon male from the other fish, would two be enough? i am worried he may persue them relentlessly to death?
Could i add a crown tail fighter to this tank? would he be nipped by the honey?
And lastly a medical question, my homey gourami male has damaged his face although it is healing he is a bit bloated on only one side of his belly, is this dropsy caused my him taking on water through the damaged area? I am treating it with a dropsy and ulcer remedy.
Also how much aquarium salt would you recommend with a 10 gallon tank? the box is not very clear! Cheers one and all!
