Pure ammonia or ammonium chloride?

Get plain ammonia, and use a syringe
How much plain ammonia would go in a 20 gallon? I know it wouldnt be the same amount as Dr.tims cause its a little different. I ask too many questions lol

Answered that already, 2.25 ml (2.27 per the calculator)

I don't know where you could buy ammonia in the US, I'll have to leave it for American members to say where they buy it from.

Oops sorry must've not seen that... And I guess I didnt know pharmacies gave them away... I mean how should I ask them lol... Its a bit of a weird request in my opinion.

In this country they don't give them away but they are very cheap from pharmacies.
One thing I learned is ask for a babies medicine dosing syringe. I went into the pharmacy I use regularly for everything from medicine to toothbrushes and when I asked for "a syringe" the woman looked at me sideways and said what did I want it for. When I explained she said always ask for a "babies medicine dosing" syringe as if you ask for just a syringe they'll assume you want to inject something into yourself :S (you can't fit a needle on a babies medicine syringe)

Yah lol. I just found out my dads work has a ton of syringes and he said hed get me one... He said it has the measurments I need on there so I think imma do that. But yes anytime you need a syringe... You should probably ask for a baby dosing syringe lol

Pure ammonia can be bought in many places in the States, Walmart, dollar stores, etc.

You just have to be certain it contains ammonium hydroxide and water ONLY....no surfactants, perfumes, dyes, detergents, etc....an old rule for picking the right ammonia was to shake the bottle, and observe...if it foamed up, it's won't work for cycling...no foaming, it's OK...not sure if this is still valid, though

Or... Just look at the ingredients

Sometimes....you will find, more often than not, that a complete ingredient list is not printed on the bottle.
Ok... I think I'm going to use the Dr.tims stuff so I dont have to worry about all the other stuff. Just have to get it to 3ppm imstead of 2 which should be simple. I just have to do math...

For some reason, Dr Tim's website says to use 2 ppm for cycling, but the method on here says to use 3 ppm. Their method is different from ours as well, stick with ours :)

Thats what imma do. I think the right amount to add will be 6 ml because every 2 ml equals 1ppm in a 20 gallon. But I will start out with 4 ml and go from there
