Alas, it is impossible for me to like rugby. It's in the category of the NFL, basketball, cricket and car racing. When rugby season would start in our Canadian school, I thought of it as Broken Collarbone Season.
My Yorkshire friend was a semi professional footie player, so he's a great resource. I was a certified provincial level coach for the obscure sport of softball, and I can break down an ice hockey game very well. Hockey's theology for me. I like to nerd in all ways, so I want to be able to detect some finer points in how football is played. I get the general principles, but there's depth to be picked up.
For the Premier League/Champion's League, I'm still a primitive who goes by team names I like. When I was a teenager I would look at the results and follow Blackpool, because the town's name seemed sufficiently Gothic. The team itself seemed to be the walking dead back then, but you can't have everything.
Arsenal sounds good, so hurrah!
