neil how much is your mate wanting for the asiatica? how many does he have for sale and what sort of size are they?
iv been looking at them for ages now and decided i want some!
i just don't wanna buy 2 and then find out they are gonna kick the sh*t out of each other so i would prefer a small group!
cheers

oh and i think i found the culprit for the split platinum tail, the same suspect of the tatty characin tail! the mystus leucophasis! asian upside down catfish!
i really wouldn't wanna get rid of it though! absolutely stunning fish! about 7 inch and jet black with lots of pure silver specs. beautiful!
gonna drop the level in the assams tank today, if it encourages them to breed would this be the time they would attack the other 3 in there??
will keep an eye on them!

Dave

just dropped the water level in the assam tank. got it around 4 inch under the max line and the filter is still going strong! that should be sufficient shouldn't it?? so now the water is exactly 10 inch deep!
so how long i leave it for, a couple of week?
trying to sort out space for a couple more tanks, thinking of the sp. blue moonbeam galaxy and a bigger tank for the ornates. got a 3 footer set up now and hoping to get the asiatica for that one!

love the pics!

i like them little things that poke of their mouths

if its he bloke I think it is I;ve emailed hi about those asciatica

its game over for the wee nipper!

is this the signsof a pair forming I want to be sure before I take the other two out?
theres been no body wrapping
Yes mate this doe's sound to me like a pair forming, same thing happened with my ornatipinnis, there was only three but one was battered and the other two were near perfect<except old wound's> they did not show any other sign's until later on maybe a month later, i personally would be inclined to either watch cautiously until i witness something myself or just remove the two beaten pulchra and see how the other two act alone
But this is providing you have time to do this, otherwise try cramming the tank full of different place's for them to hide and just throw in lot's of plant's plastic is good a cheap.

more damage I have just noticed so I;ll seperate them in a bit but I;ll have to put them in with my new asciatica hopefull no poblems will devcelop

case of trail and error again, those three channa marulius i added with my four channa banks are doing just fine at present, fingers crossed, yes dave and si look at dave_oddball's post in pic section i added the message from matey...he thinks there both male, it's um 26pounds for both i think and around 18p&p...maybe you two can go halve's?

had to take one pulchra out he was in a really bad way, somethings hapened to the harmonmy in big way last 24 hours!!!

Have to say these beauties have me hooked now,

Everytime i go to do something that involves walking past the tank i have to stop and watch them for a while,
and then when i'm done watching I haven't got the foggiest idea why I went into the room?
so then i walk out the room, remember why i went in there and then the process starts all over again

Oh Nelly !

What sorts of foods are your banks taking?

Don't think one of mine has fed since it arrived, have tried frozen foods like bloodworm, cichlid diet etc, as well as mealworms and prawns, but it just doesn't seem interested, swimming up to it then swimming away, The other one is only eating prawns atm

first day mine took yesterday after some waiting those dried mealworms and chopped up prawns....they go sniff leave then repeat a few time's then eat, but very undiceded if they wan't it or not, the first bank's i got only ate the other day first time properly, hehe fussy bugger's....give them time

yeah figured they'd take a while to settle, They seem to be acting almost territorial towards each other atm? one has taken up about 70-75% of the tank and the other resides in the other 25-30%

Have to say though best decision i've ever made getting these guys :good: :hyper:
