I'm so cheesed off at how carelss I have been

I had managed recently to see what I thought were a pair out of my pulchra that I've had as a group of 6 since may 08. My supposed pair were now about7 inch and loking lovely

anyways goes out to walk dog at 11.30pm and noticed a pulchra on my path near the pavement!!!! I had opened the lid of my pulchra tank at 3pm when messingwith the plants, it must have escaped then unfortunately wit hthe other one that i cannot find!!

It had walked about 15 ft and I assume from 3pm till 11.30pm!!! icannot believe it but now I;m cheesed off for being so stupud as these are my favouirte channas

bloody hell!!! wow im gobsmacked-amazing how it survived, a few more feet and it would have been done for

Well after a couple of weeks, my Redfins have started to come out from hiding and are starting to eat and chill out a little.
Taking photos of them is still sooo difficult as they are either hidden in dark areas, or in light areas swimming to fast!

Anyway, here a a few pics I managed to get:

This one is in my Bleheri tank, which has dark gravel. This seemed to make it's body color much darker.

Hi Shelaghfishface.
Ornatipinis are OK with water temps rising to the lower 20s during summer months. (20-23/4)

If you are having problems keeping your water sub-tropical, there are a few options:

1 . gradual but constant water changes getting cooler. (this can stress out fish a little, and SH's arent too keen on regular water changes)
2 . Cooling system. (can be pricey)
3 . makeshift cooling system using PC cooling equiptment (fans / ducts etc)
4 . makeshift cooling system using buckets of ice / ice cold water slowly dripping or drizling into the tank by a tube. (you will need an overflow for this)
5 . (my fave) fill up old drinks bottles with water, freeze them and simply add to the tank near the back away from lights. will slowly melt cooling the water. This way works for my tanks. It'shot here in Japan at the moment, but my Pulchra tank is at 22c constantly using this method.

Hope that helps.

(maybe Nelly/simonas/daves oddballs and others can chip in with their ideas/experiences)

i am having problems at the moment with the temperature, well, more than a problem as its killed 4 of my ornate babies!, i keep it at a constant 24 degrees using fans but i cant get it any lower! they seem to be doing ok but 1 still is looking a bit dodgy, skinwise that is, treating with myxazin to help prevent an infection but hit n miss i reckan!
the assams are doing fine, no cooling, just leave lid flaps open so it doesnt get too hot, and the sp. platinum is doing fine, at about 27 degrees at the moment, think the babies just wasnt strong enough to fight the problems warmer water brings them!
