I have a 55 gallon planted tank and I know I will eventually have a problem with free floating green algae. I haven't got it yet but right now I have an Eheim which isn't really good at cleaning the water. Pretty much standard stuff in an Eheim 2026 Pro II. Any suggestions on what I could add to the filter? Any ideas? I heard UV is good at cleaning water among other things, but will it hurt nutrients for plants? I looked at diatom filters too like the Marineland.
I tried adding fiber to the filter but it's a pain to clean out every week because it seems to pick up quite a bit of crap.
