Hi
Ever since I got my pleco from as a present I have always thought of it as a male(no clue why) but I was wondering how you tell if a pleco is a male or female?
Any help appreciated:)

Most male suckermouth catfish get small bristles on the edge of their pectoral (side) fin, and some also get bristles on their head, mouth and face.

Females don't get the bristles on their pectoral fins and don't normally get them on their face. However, females in some species might get a few bristles on their face but nowhere near as many as the males do.

Yes, it is a male. If it have the bristles, it is a male. I personally have a male albino BNP. :)
