hi all
please can anyone help me identify this fish - it appears to be of a calm nature anyway and is about 4inches?
thanks

thanks for all replies

Those photos look like two separate fish to me. Which is more accurate colour wise? Does it have the rosy hue in the first photo or is it more of a silver like the second one?

looks dead to me... use the rotate button and try and get the pics a little bigger for a better I.D. :good:

Looks like a Rasbora sumatrana to me :good:.

I have a lonely one too, never seen them in shops yet. Very chunky rasbora!

thanks very much for all responses.
i have just googled Rasbora sumatrana on the images showing, that is what my fish is......with the black stripe with a black dot at the end.
Are these good community fish to keep - so far it seems really pleasant
thanks again

They are ok for community tanks, but they grow nearly 6 inches long and are very active! Wouldn't be surprised if they ate small neons etc.

Really should be kept in groups to promote peaceful behaviour, mine is a little "pushy" with other similarly-sized cyrpinids (like my Garra rufa and RTBS).

If you have a 4'+ long tank and have space for more if you see them in the shops, you should be fine :).
