Please Help Me!

How often are you doing the water changes? Sorry I need to keep up more (hehe). Tsp per gallon of salt, every full water change. And if you do partial water changes, measure new salt according. I wouldn't overstock on the salt, but it will help gill function. The clear part of his fins should be fine, they are clear when they grow in (I just learned) and the color comes later, but the reddish thing kinda worries me. It may be normal but I think it COULD be a symptom of something. I will try to look it up, and someone else on here probably knows more than I do about that. He doesn't have any red tints does he? From what I remember, he was very light colored...if he does though, it just sounds like his clear fins are turning normal colored. But yeah, don't worry about the clear fins..that's completely normal when they are growing back! The color comes later. I'll look it up and get back to ya ;)

If he isn't eating I would go a couple days without feeding (maybe 2 or 3 tops, since he hasn't eaten in so long) because the wasted food can just foul up the water. Does he have any other symptoms besides not eating and possible fin loss? Have his fins gotten any worse and have you seen any fin that has fallen off and landed at the bottom of his tank? Is he breathing heavy? How long have you had his again? Sorry Like I said, I need to stay updated

I was just upstairs checking on him and taking some pics. they didnt come out all that well. I think his fins look a lot better than they did. hes movin them and everything. I dont know if I am just seeing red or what. Right now his tank water is green b/c of his medicine so its a little hard to tell. The instructions on the bottle of his medicine says to put the amount in and then wait 48 hours, put more in, wait 48 hours and then make a 25% water change and put more medicine in. So today I am supposed to do a 25% water change. i dont know if I should just make a 100% [so I can look at him better] or do what the bottle says.

im not really sure how long he has been like this because I was gone for a weekend b/c of the bad weather & our power was out [i live in iowa]. Before then he was always at the bottom of his bowl and everyone told me he was probably just old and dying. Then I came back and I noticed his fins/tail were smaller so then I started to research it all on the internet acouple days later b/c everyone was still telling me he was just dying of old age. but i have only had him a year and a half.

hmm.. the only stuff i can notice is that he leans on the marbles i have in his bowl, he breathes heavy sometimes [not all the time though], and the stuff about his tail/fin, he doesnt eat, and he stays at the bottom most of the time. sometimes he will go up to the top for acouple seconds and then he will swim back down.

i think i answered everything??

EDIT: i dont know if I said this before..but I didnt always put that conditioner stuff in his water. I didnt find out about that till later on when I had him. I was stupid about bettas..yes. i got him at walmart so no one ever told me what I needed to have and I didnt look on the net.

Oooh, wait. When you said the fins were "reddish", did you mean the tip of the fin? If it's the tip is does sound like fin rot..

ya the tip.. sorry i didnt explain myself very well.

my betta is doing a little better. he still wont eat but his fins arent that reddish color anymore. i think the medicine is working :good: . i hope it doesnt take long
