Ph Help Needed

If my water test kit is to be believed, and I've no reason not to, my pH level is 5.5. I'm not sure what this means but I don't think its good. Its lower than my tap water. What can I do to raise it? Is there anything I'm doing to cause it to be so low. My other levels seem ok? Plus my fish are ok (guppies, platies, otto, hatchet fish, tetras, and a gourami). Which fish, if any, are more suited to this sort of water?

You can buy a PH buffer which levels out your PH but i have been told by several people that once you start messing with chemicals in your tank it can all go a bit pear shaped.

My PH is always at 7.6 which is very high, but i have just got fish that are quite hardy and they have all coped well..................so far anyway

Do a water change or add some coral stones. You can buy bags of them at your lfs.
