People's Plans For Next Few Months

I've been trying to breed bronze corys but they seem to have decided not to lay anymore eggs so I'm turning the fry tank (13litre glass tank with a reasonable filter for £15 from Pets at Home ) into a tank for my betta. Trying to decide how to decorate it, would use plants however not sure whether the 2 12" cathodes I'm putting in will be enough to grow any plants at all. Other than that I don't plan on buying anymore tropical fish other than maybe replacing my betta when he passes away probably sometime this year as he is 1 1/2 years old now. I plan on replacing my tropical fish with Black Moors :)

going to try and breed these rare south american chiclids :hyper:

what one's? or am i being slow

1)Set up my 90 gallon tank. Just need the piping, got everything else.

2)Trade some community fish that I've for a long time, some since I started in order to try and breed some fish. Going to be sad in a way, but I know they will be going to good homes and will be looked after.

3)Move my oscar into a bigger tank when he needs it (already got the tank, just the oscar is too small and will probably be eaten if I put him in the big tank now).

Those are my plans for the comming weeks/months. Points 1 and 2 should be completed by friday all going well. Number 3 is a longer term project, but I expect it to me no more than 2 months at the most.

yeh regarding point 2, i have been selling off some fish recently, its always a little difficult unless they REALLY need to go, like been causing lots of aggro or were not compatible (previous mistakes of mine)

Well both of my tanks have just been rescaped and are where I like them at the minute... however just today I purchased a new filter, light and heater for my new 4ft (75gal) that I'm getting in the very near future. My first journal will surely ensue in the pictures and/or New World forum :good:

Good luck i would like to do a journal one day, maybe i'll just steal some pictures and make one up lol,

Just rescaped my 125L over the weekend and got some new stock.

Future plans:

7 cardinal tetra (to make a nice shoal of 8 in the 125L)
1 Dwarf Neon Rainbow (to make a nice shoal of 8 in the 125L)

Possibly 2 more bronze corys (to make a nice shoal of 8 in the 125L).... hehe Although I might be at my limit for bottom dwellers in my 125L

What it is with me and the number 8 :S

Oh and getting my bettas to breed (on going battle)

I've got about 20 Corydoras, 2 Khulie loach and 5 small Bristlenose in my 300 litre 48"x24"x18" pushing it i know in terms of bottom dwellers, but i maintain it well and pay attention to their feeds, not letting them just rely on eating all the left-over's

I'm planning to change my low-tech planted hex into a high-tech one as soon as I can find the extra bit of cash for a new light & co2 system.
I'm also on the lookout for some nice platies to go in my livebearer tank.

I've got nice home-grown platies, but i wouldnt post and live too far from you (London)...which makes me wonder why i am posting this lol, but good luck!!!!

First im new to this so Hi all
im thinking of setting up a tank just for shrimps

Welcome Papa, i knew a Papasmurf from another forum funnily enough

Generally I'm lusting after Botia sithimunki  :hyper: I just need to amass the funds and paranoia demands that I watch my tank stay stable for sometime yet before they can arrive hehehe

Otherwise the majority of my schemes(!) are froggie or invertebrate related :good:

lol, thats good fish keeping not paranoia!!!!

My plans for the next few months consist of trying to set-up a mbuna tank. Need the tank first!!! (5x2x2 I had secured just wasn't going to fit into my lounge, as much as i tried it wouldn't go), so need to aquire a tank, then the process of setting the tank up begins. Hopefully it will be an enjoyable experience but only time will tell. Hopefully more highs than lows. Also maintaining and rehoming some of the fish in my existing tank will take up some of my time. Still got the three chinese algae eaters in my tank that have been looking for a new home for a while now. I may have to take them to the lfs sometime.

Sell and grow loads fo plants.
Build a 5ft x 5ft x 2ft vivarium (water dragon).With the left over a 3ft x 2ft x 2ft vivarium (royal python) using the glass I already have in the old vivarium.
Using b-day money or money I get from selling corn snakes and set-up construct the 270gals sump!
:hyper: Then my 100gal will be converted for plants, discus and praecox rainbow fishes!
And using anything I can scrounge set up a 55gal marine with 45 gal sump...but this willb e lackign funds up tll next christmas, unless we win the lottery

you see you failed with the 5x2x2 and gave up too easy, if a tank doesnt fit into your home then its obvious you need a new home lol

do stay in touch if you down the mbuna / malawi route, i dont think you'll regret it, lovely set-ups they can be, just do your research, will save you having to frantically re-home certain species when it proves too much aggression wise!!!!

LOL!!! There was also the little matter of transporting it. I don't think my sisters Rover Metro could quite cope!!!! I was gutted when after 2 days I had to give up on the idea. The measuring tape had been out so many times!!.

This is definatly going to happen. Where my existing tank is, theres a nice 4ft space next to it just waiting for a new one. Hopefully i will acquire the right tank soon. Then onwards an upwards as they say. I'll be touch for advice no doubt.

Well tomorrow im of down to wharf aquatics to haggle a deal (i hope) for 2 new tanks these are for the dinning room

The tank in the front room im changing to a Pseudotropheous demasoni species tank as at the moment it has tetras, change the filter to an external, i have got the cilchlid bug big time.

Thats it for me

:) I am planning on getting a 30 gallon and making it a planted tank and adding a green spotted puffer and some ottos. I love those fish.

What I plan on doing, and what actually gets done are two different things. I would like to plumb my water & drain lines to the fishroom; I’ve wanted to do that for about a year. I have five 40 gallon tanks that came with overflows, I have a couple running, the rest are empty, I want to see how well the overflows work for water changes, this will partially determine the plumbing scheme for the fishroom, and if I’ll be drilling more tanks.

Some of what I have planned depends on the fish as well, sometimes they cooperate, other times they don’t. I have one line of koi, Angels Plus blood, that just started to spawn, and some potential breeder koi growing with Mellow Aquatics blood. The plan is to cross the Mellow bloodline with the Angels Plus bloodline.

I’ve had half wild silvers with Peruvian blood going for a few years now; I just picked up some wilds, potential breeders, which originate in Brazil, Rio Xingu blood. Another line cross, as my Peruvians need it, and good wilds aren’t getting any easier to get.

I also am on a constant search for a small natural gas space heater. Finding a ventless one for an 8’x16’ room is tough, as it has to be for an 8’x8’ room, the room is half water. I may end up building a sort of small gas fired boiler, utilizing a small on demand water heater, some air conditioning condensers, and a recirculating pump.

First of all I will get my 180 litre bowfront up and running in the next 2 months, after having waited for half a year (moving should finally take place!). That means I will then empty 2 smaller tanks into the big tank.

After that I will try to breed some of my fish, maybe the pearl gouramis, the golden Wonder killies or the kribs (should be the easiest!) or my betta.

And last but not least: I hope to get some nice killie species this year.
