The sad thing is what if the guy buys one for the girl, and then they break up.. She won't want to have a fish from her old ex with " I <3 U ". Terrible !

The danio is definitely a glo-fish. Nothing cruel there.

The others - the heart and the i love you are almost certainly a laser tattoo, not dye. Laser tattoos, while certainly not fun, won't have the same detrimental health effects as dying.

No the sad thing is when it's injected, then it dies from that experience...not getting stuck with a fish with a heart on it. Serve them right for buying it lol.
