Oh No! I Think I've Bought Dyed Fish!

I've just got some 'hot pink danio's' since nothing comes up of this species on google i presume they dont naturally come in that colour! I feel so dumb! Can anyone verify this cos i'm about to march back to the LFS and demand a refund

they had valentines day dyed mollies at my LFS. i was shocked - they're usually a very good fish store.

If they're neon pink Danios they're likely genetically modified, not dyed.

Are you sure they weren't just glolite danios? They'e GM to be like that, not dyed.

Im not sure if they are dyed or not, i cant believe i didnt think of it at the time. This LFS used to be on the PFK dyed fish pledge but i got their name taken off after i sent PFK pics of dyed glass fish in ridiculous shades of pink green and blue i saw in there.

Look, before you rant any futher, type "glolite danio" or glo-lite or glowlight danio into google. These are much different from dyed fish and i'm sure these might be what you have.
EDIT: then again, some shops produce false glowlight danio's by dying them instead of buying the true glowlights, with the difference that the dyed ones have a stronger pink colour than the normal glowlights. Can you get any pics?

the balloon mollies had little hearts on them. they were cute, but i knew right away they had to be died - i've never seen a natural fish with a heart on it. i was tempted to get on just to get a picture of it.

cant find such a thing as a glo lite danio? only glo lite tetras. Do you have a link?

And glowlight danio is very different to what you mean Glowlight danios are a proper species, similar to glowlight tetras but... danio-y. What *you* mean is Glo-fish.

My local LFS, which is normally the best LFS in this area that I know of, has been carrying almost the same thing. They had parrots and albino oscars with I <3 U injected on their sides. I guess that's the Valentine's Day version. Kind of ridiculous! At least they looked healthy otherwise though.
