even tho i run a strict maintainence regime in my tank of 40% water change weekly with sand clean , clean my filters regularly maintain good water and clean the sand any time it looks dirty even if w/c isnt due i wake up this morning turn on the tank lioghts to see that my prized sevs have a mild case of ich.

cue a mad panic dash to lfs for some meds

have raised temp slightly and am treating with fingers crossed. if you were allowed to swear on these forums trust me this post would be littered with 4 letter words i am not happy :hyper:

[sup]oh my goodness!! what do u think has caused that then? make sure you add a good air pump, if you havent already :)
and all the best with treatment

i only said bugga!!

Its come in on some of the new fish Id imagine, even if they are not showing signs of it. Im sure it will clear up soon enough. Csreful with meds with the glass knife though, if they are like ghost knives, will be very sensitive to meds, you may have to half dose.

ive got my eheim air pump running on the tank im using king british ws3 full strength white spot terminator, a pretty heavy duty med.
only fish ive added recently are 4 long finned rosy barbs which went in yesterday

Dont worry mark sure it will clear up :) I'm in exactly the same position at the moment but I think I'm in a much worse situation as I dont have a clue what is going on :(

its only on my sevs at the moment mostly on the green sev on vinny to a lesser degree. the green sev is showing the most spots but even that hasnt got lots probably about half a dozen or so on his pectoral fins 1 in his dorsal fin and a couple in his anal fin. vinny as a few on his pectoral fins. when i 1st started fish keeping i had a bad whitespot outbreak and thought it was the end of the world. now i have molre experience im not to stressed about it , im more concerned that the meds im using may be too harsh for my featherfin synodontis glass knife fish and golden nugget plec, i may well lower thee dosage as minxy suggested.

Don't freak out you know what your doing you caught it early so I'm sure they will be ok. I always do extra water changes when dealing with ick. Some times daily before I add the next dose.

If your green severum gets overly stressed or picked on you might want to put her in a hospital tank. But if he's doing fine in the tank it will be ok.

Good luck.

Did you add new fish lately Mark? I know you must be so gutted, it's the most frustrating thing, despite your best efforts something spoils it for you, but with your water change regime I am pretty certain the Sevs will be clear in no time x

yesterday i added 4 long finned rosy barbs and a huge new chunk of bogwood other than that a little firemouth but hes been in there a good 6 weeks now.

as of yet tho all other fish ( new ones included) are clear of any spots

Oh how strange that the rosy's don't have it, I wonder if your sevs got stressed by adding them, I hope you get it sorted, and I am sure you will do

yeah im sure il soon knock it out i ve upped the temp slightly put in an air pump the meds ive got you dose every 48 hours so ive dosed today tuesday il do a small water changed then dose again and follow that pattern

I beat ich with gouramis once, I think if gouramis can beat ich, anything can

just glad my lfs is open sundays and has a good range of meds . so ive got in with a good quality med early which should hopefully prevent it becoming a full on outbreak .

Its awful when you see those first few spots, I think I am lucky I have only had to deal with it twice. Sounds like you have caught it early enough.
