Anyone else getting a notice that fishforums is not secure. Has the certificate/license expired?

I just logged in and nothing funny on my end.

Have you got a virus scanner?
If yes, maybe scan your pc. :)

Mine just started but I don’t like using it with that on there. It occurred in another forum I use to be on and it was because the certificate had expired. Any moderators on here?

The administrators of this site need to get this corrected. I also notice it on my computer. I mentioned it to the administrators months ago.

Many people don't like entering non-secure websites. Updating to secure status will make users more comfortable in using this site.

For sure! Who wants to use an unsecure website these days with identity theft such an issue?

In 2018 HTTP went to an HTTPS protocol. Most browsers, especially Chrome, will display "not secure"prior to the website's address. Unless you offer critical information such as credit cards, real addresses, names, or other hard factually pertinent information about your person, which is absolutely STUPID to begin with, there is not much to be alarmed over whatsoever. The only other thing you want to make certain is not the case is that you're using a password associated with other critical accounts. Your IP address couple with this password could POSSIBLY be an issue, but most all those critical accounts are using HTTPS so hacking is made nearly impossible anyway. Some owners/administrators may be able to merely enable the HTTPS protocol in their software if it's new enough or updated enough to allow it. Here's a great article that covers the issue. There is unfortunately a little more to it than just the renewal of certificates, there is also compatibility on the owners behalf which may take unreasonable resources with respect to a non profit driven site. Sadly, and I do mean this wholeheartedly, forums are old school website tech and dying a certain death. Check it out, they're getting rarer and rarer.

This may explain why I have gotten some fish-related mail, care info. Anyone else?

Try this workaround. Type in https://www.fishforums.net and then save that link to your bookmarks. I think that solves the issue you are having.

Let me know if that works.

If the "not secure" notice bothers you, just type the website address starting with https://www instead of just the www or just typing the fishforums part, either of which may default to using http instead of https as the prefix. According to my browsers, https://www.fishforums.net is secure with a valid certificate and the connection as encrypted. The secure version is enabled, it's just not getting invoked by default if you just type "fishforums.net" into the browser.

What is replacing forums?
Hi Deanasue,
Forums are from the good old days prior to social media and smart phone addiction. Way back when people focused on common interests other than themselves. People text and won't answer their phones, hit a "like" button instead of relating comparatively, and make snap impulsive judgments based on a photo minus conversation. We are devolving as a society at a pace that is truly terrifying. I mean look at google, they've basically managed to destroy the "free internet" by commercializing it for their corporate profit's sake, and censoring it at the behest of partisan intelligence agencies. Long gone are the days of truly effective multiple unbiased search engines. The internet is now the tightly focused and most effective tool of the Tavistock Institute's push for global control.
