Not As Big As You'd Think..

Well I still think 90 gallons is big. Because I usually dont like keeping big fish. Im used to keeping Tetras, bettas, and other small ones. But I guess if you make the tank saltwater then that would be a diffrent story.

Man, when I got my 29 gallon, I thought it was HUGE
When I got my 80 gallon, again I thought it was absolutely massive... the fact that it's in a tiny room adds to that illusion, of course. Still, after having it sitting around for quite a while it doesn't seem nearly as large anymore :/
Already itching for a bigger one...

look at 2nd hand - tanks are really cheap 2nd hand :)

our trigon 350 would have cost nearly £1200 with the bits we got - it was 8 months old... and we got it for £300 :)

That was with a fluval 304 external, with new filter pads and ceramics (about £40), complete set of filters for the jewul filter, enough gravel for it, ornaments, medications and test kits for stuff we've never tested for!

Trigon 350 is a nice tank. I was looking at these before I got my 6ft but couldn't see how it would fit into our particular room so had the 6ft one made at 18" width to fit a space. (24" standard would have got in the way of a door) :)

If I ever get the space of a big house I would like 4 of these back to back forming a circle with no cover & some meaty lighting above & a nice coral reef inside with water linked tanks!! Would make a nice feature!!

I think a 75G in the store isn't even that big, its only wider than my 55G.
I'm itching for a 125G....it'd be really nice...

They're big if you're trying to find a place to put them in the house.

I would love to have a 200 gallon tank but just don't have anywhere to put something that large. I think if you go to the expense of buying a really big tank, you should go first class on everything. Get the best filters, heaters, lighting, etc so that you have everything covered. I tried to do that with my 75 gallon. The tank, stand and light strip were $300 which I thought was a good price. After that I spent about $200 on two filters, $100 on two inline heaters, about $120 on substrate (Eco Complete and Tahitian Moon Sand), $250 on power compac lights and about $100 on plants. I still need to get a CO2 system. Actually, the fish are by far the least expensive thing in the tank. But I felt like this was going to be the biggest tank I could fit in the house so I wanted to do it right.

Gotta agree with everyone else, second hand if you can and the bigger the tank, does seem to grow on you.

Whne I bought my 230 gallon as was setting it up, I thought I would never get accustomed to the size. Now to me it is just another tank......

THAT HAS MY RAYS IN IT!

Just another tank? If I had that, it'd be The tank, lol.

Yea, I used to think my 75g was huge, but now I think it's tiny! I look at it and think how any fish could possibly live in it because it is so small... I must have bigger and better tanks!! And no, I'm not afraid to say I'm a hard core MTS sufferer! :D

For a really long time the biggest tank you could get around here was a 180g, but a new store now has a 280g, and that is gigantic! I swear, I could crawl in it and live inside for the rest of my life! But I'm sure as soon as I got it, it would just be too small for me  I think the 280g is 2 or 3 thousand dollars, but that includes the tank, stand, hood, and lights, so that's not bad at ALL.

Yeah same thing here, when i got my first 30gal i thought it was massive, but then i got my 125gal recently and although it is very big for a tank, now i've had it for a month or so it just doesn't seem so large...i guess one factor of getting used to a tank upgrade is simply maintaining it, when i got my 125gal i thought it would take all day to do a filter clean, water change and substrate cleaning session, and although i have to stand on a bucket just to reach into the tank, it actually takes less time than cleaning my old 30gal and 50gal tanks...

2nd hand is the way to go! I got my 500 liter(132US gal) with iron-stand, coverglass, two sets of lamps and an Eheim 2252 filter for about $270 USD. I have had it for 2 and a half months and I still think it looks huge, ecspecially since my 54 liter growout tank is just in the next room. :D
