NFL 2026

Well unless something dramatic happens it looks like Shedeur Sanders will be Cleveland's starting QB. :) Personally I wanted Sanders as the starter as a rookie last year.
Well something dramatic happened.
Shadeur clearly outplayed Watson, and I watched all of the game against the Bears and saw most of the other two games (why am I watching so many Browns preseason games?) and then you had Watson's press conference meltdown.
@jaylach What are your thoughts? Did the owner make Watson the starter? Is it only for one week because they start on the road? How hard will Watson be booed at the first home game? You couldn't script more drama for training camp.

I think Watson is starting due to money. I think they are still trying to justify the foolish contract they gave Watson. Coaches say this is not a one game thing but of course they say that. ;)

The only way that Watson does not get booed to the extreme week 3 against the Panthers at home will be if they beat the Jags and Bucs week 1 & 2 on the road. Even then he's still get boos but not as bad. Fans have not liked Watson from the start and were upset when Cleveland got him.

I wonder what the long term plan is. You're free of Watson at the end of the season. Tank for Arch? Maybe Shadeur starts by week 5?

I don't see a tank to get a player; just not Cleveland's style.

I would think that Sanders would start either game 3 or 4 unless Watson does something except turnovers. Personally I don't see a need to get another QB. Both Sanders and Gabriel will eventually play for someone. At this point I hope both stay with Cleveland.

Green is another QB of interest. He needs work at QB but is fast and strong. He could easily be a player that fits situations like a wildcat formation.

I would keep all three; Sanders, Gabriel and Green and release Watson. Green would be the third QB so could be used at other positions such as a kick returner and/or wildcat.

Ya, that's what I would do would do....
  • release Watson
  • Sanders as the starter but allow for bringing in Gabriel if Sanders is suffering
  • Gabriel as the starter but allow for bringing in Sanders if Gabriel s suffering.
  • Use Green as a sort of utility player unless he proves himself as a starter over time. 4th and one and you need a yard to win the game? Green will get you 2.
Even though young I think Cleveland has filled the QB as to players but not as to decisions. Cleveland is good at getting mid/high level defensive players but not at good all when it comes to QB.

All of that makes sense. So the Browns will do the opposite. It's almost as if they are competing with the NY Jets to be the most dysfunctional franchise.

If/when Shedeur Sanders starts it could be confusing with a running back named Raheim Sanders. I can see the confusion when an announcer says "Sanders hands off to Sanders..." ;)

Browns actually did a smart thing. They put Dillon Gabriel on IL. Seems that this allows them to keep him without a roster hit. They also kept Green.

It also keeps them from having to put one of them on the practice squad where they could be claimed by another team.
What injury did they say Gabriel has, hangnail?

Actually Taylen Green is interesting. Physically he is a beast at 6'6" and 230-240 pounds. He also does a 4.36 40-yard dash and has a world of talent but needs work on his passing. He just MAY end up being the Browns' QB of the future. I think this is why they put Gabriel on the IL instead of Green. Hey, he put 10 points up on the Pats... ;) Physically he reminds me of Ben Roethlisberger but faster.

Here is how I see it ending.
Watson gone! YEA!
Sanders as the starter.
Gabriel as #2
Green as a utility QB doing wildcard and such as his passing improves and possibly becomes the future starter.

New England Patriots vs Seattle Seahawks
Seahawk's quarterback Sam Darnold was injured (hip injury) early in the game. Pats lead 7 to 0 at halftime. Drake May has rushed for 36 yards so far in the game and has one touchdown pass.

It's now all tied up at 10-1 with 11 minutes left in the game. Pats have the ball.
