2 fish

thats the best picture i can get right now as all i have is a camera phone.

OK good, just didn't want discussions like the GBR ones to go to far without members being aware you had those other fish in there in case they are incompatible or something. I'm not a cichlid expert but some of our other members are quite good with all the ins and outs of combining various types of cichlids and other stocking issues related to them. Pretty soon I'll be traveling and out of connectivity and so it'll have to be other members anyway!

okay so i visited a couple of lfs today to see what is in stock two fish caught my interest for bottom dwellers. there was a tank full of butterfly plecos and also a tank of Paeleatus corydras. would i be able to get 1 bf plec and 3 corys 3 more neon tetras and maybe 3-5 other mid level top level swiming fish? tanks would look like this:

15 neon tetras
3 paeleatus corydras
2 mystery cichlids
1 butterfly pleco
3-5 other fish.

I'm afraid I can't say what those two fish are - could be geophagus but could be miles off...

Careful with cichlids and tetras. If your cichlids are reasonably large (and they do grow big) they will be food. So far so good with your current tock I guess.

It would be advisable to take a step back and think about what about the tank is important to you - the look of it, the fish behaviour, the colour of the fish themselves, etc. From there the members here can better advise as there are lots of do's and don'ts. Some groups of fish are of course incompatible, some need larger tanks, others eat plants, others eat each other!

right now i have no intention of planting this tank. it currently has a black background with black gravel. a huge piece of wood and a rock structure. i like activity and i want it to look nice. i don't plan on breeding or anything else just like to be able to watch the fish swim around when im in my room.

im loading up a video to you tube. hopefully this will help.

on a side note when i wait for the test kit to come in does my tank need one of those air bubble machines. i see alot of tanks have them and mine currently does not have one.

Here are my results from my test.

ph 6.5
am .0
rate is 5.0
rite is 0

what does this mean?

do tanks need air stones mine currently does not have one?

they look like jewell cichlids to me,do they have a shiny spot on there gill ?

If I were you I would replace the fake plants with real ones. I like the java moss and java fern.
