New To Guppies

Hi, I've got a 90l tank and all the levels are spot on. Had a load of Tetras, Harlequins, and two apple snails, so went and bought 5 male guppies (3 blue and 2 orange). I noticed over a few days their 'fins' were getting chewed and all died apart from one.
Today I bought another 5 guppies (3 orange and 2 yellow). As I had the bag floating in the tank I noticed the lone guppy was going mental in tank as if to get at the 5 new ones. Once let out he wouldn't leave them alone and appeared to be nipping at the underneath of the others. I've quarantined him temporarily as I don't want more dead ones but my question is does it sound like this is the one doing all the damage?

Males can pick at each other a bit when there are no females around. The way he is picking at their undersides would suggest breeding frustrations. A solution may be to leave the aggressive one out or to get a large " bushy " plant to break up the their line of sight. Are the tetras and guppies in the one tank?

from an animal behaviourist point of view, that would sound like it to me. It's a shame we can't neuter fish, that would probably do the trick lol I'm sure people here will give you more info though.

Hi, thanks for the reply. Yes all the fish are in the same tank. So I have a horny fish lol I may just take the over excited one back to the shop then as I'm currently holding it at bay in a net.
