today i receved my new tank, its a Aqua One Regency 80 (180L/42UK Gallons). well after a bit of filter trouble the shop replaced it, its a Aqua One Aquia 2250 UV-C and the air pump i have is a Tetratec 400 (it does up to 600L). i have gravel called Eco Compleat that feeds the plant using bacteria that "produce" it from stuff in the water. its going to be planted and i have 3 small peaces of bog wood to dot about for some hiding places, anyway what else do u think i could put in the tank for decorations and i'm not looking for cheep stuff made of plastic (not to be rude, its just cheep looking  ) i want the real deal so all natural and stuff like that.

hope i didn't offend anyone by saying plastic is cheep :shifty: just not to my taste (yum yum  lol)

shang hi

The plastic ones certainly aren't cheap, but they are cheap looking compared to the real stuff. I'm sure everybody understands what you mean.

Congrats on new tank, why don't you do a journal of your set up?

Paul.

i might just do that. im imagining the bit on planting it.... lol i can't reach the bottom so my dads going to help, stupid short arms. lol

grrrr.... anywho (i love that word "anywho" hehehe) i've thought of an idea, i have a clean chop stick thats never been used, ill make the hole woth than and use my plant cutter/remover to put it in the hole and burry its sides, what a plan lol.
and i don't intend in falling in :nerd: lol
i bet i will now...

Congratulations on the new tank. I want one, too. I'm jealous
Maybe you should post pictures?

(...Madgap hates 'anywho'. It's 'anyhow!)

Its all very well and good jumping in and ordering a chinese, but when are you posting pics of your tank? Preferably from the outside :p

again grrrr... ill post pics when i find my sisters digital cam, i droped mine in a puddle, and no i didn't fall in. lol

okay i though i should turn this into a journal because... well because i just wan't to

November 4th
Today i hocked everything up and filled my tank, the filter is now running smothly and the air pump is functional again. i got the tank up to about 22-24 degress C and i started to add my gravel, when something says poor full content into water, expect you to lose the sight of everything in the tank for about 2 hours. Eco compleat gravel, good for the plants, pain it the as* for a hour while you try to see where u put the gravel and level it out. the water is setiling and i can now see a blury background.

ill add more when i can do more

I told you to add the gravel first, but does anybody listen? No  .

Well external filters are amazing and the cloudiness should be gone soon. I'd probably recommend rising the temperature to 24-26 as 22 is a bit low. When you put fish in it get some media from your biorb and stick it in your external.

not going to do the media from biOrb because its had some problems, my colombian tetras a little down on its luck again with lots of rippys in its tail fin (repairing though) and because the fin rot i had a month or so back, im happy cycling it from fresh like i did whith the biOrb.

now back to mr journal (and the font i like)

november 5th

today we turned the filter on on the morning when the dust had started to settle, it now just bubbly cloudy and is almost done, im going to level it out later and plant my plants and bogwood if the water stays clear for a few more hours *crosses fingers*

ill add more later, and luke u know i never listen to you.... im guna get hit for that one arnt i? *bangs head on desk*

You did at least wash the gravel before putting it in didn't you? Never heard of putting the gravel in afterwards, haha.

Yes but I don't think Eco Complete actually has bacteria in it!

Anyway some of those plants look non aquatic like some of the plants in my garden but I'm not really a specialist.
