Well.....they look like a pair of teenages have a good fumble. They are currently wrapping although it took about an hour for any eggs to release. He's paying little to no attention to the eggs lying at the bottom of the tank although she has had a quick bite to eat inbetween lol

Looks like it's going to be another syphon job and hatch the eggs in a tub. I will leave him in in case he's managed to get some into his nest as this will give him practice for next time.

Anyway.....here are the pics so far. The first ones are of them yesterday before she was released and the rest are from tonight.

YIPEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

I'll be round to put my name on some in a few weeks

I don't doubt that for a minute :p

Thanks guys :good:

That's assuming any survive Daniel....but I will certainly keep you in mind if they do.

Female is now floating in a bag almost ready to go back in her tank.....looking very slim and streamline again lol

I've syphoned up the eggs on the bottom of the tank and they are floating in a tub. There seems to be quite a few eggs in his nest and Dad is hovering under them.

Hopefully we should have some wrigglers in a day or two....fingers crossed!!!!

ooohhhhh I love them Netty! If this is successful, and IF.... IF I have a soare space in a few months,.... I may just have to have one of their babies off you!
You should see Loki now, she is huge and a bit fat :p She has started to get a taste for the catfish pellets i pop in for my shrimp... :p She turns herself vertical, head first, and suck at them! Most comical to watch, it took me a while to figure out what she was up to! She is very content with her current tankmates... as well as some cherry shrimo, who she ignores completely, there is a juvi bristlenose, 2 boy and 2 girl threadfin rainbows, and 3 girl endlers who seem to believe they are girl rainbows. Strange mix but they all seem to get on well! As long as they all remember who is the queen, obviously :p

Tibby.....you are always welcome to have any of our babies :good:

It so good to hear about Loki and to know she is still doing so well. Even if she is a little bossy and slightly on the rotund side  I guess her Mummy likes to indulge her little Queen :p

I'm really hoping I get some babies from this pair. Dad is looking at a bit of a loose end at the moment.....I don't think he's quite sure what his role is now

Lol, poor Dad! hehe. i hope this spawn works out... though if it does, this time I want A BOY!!! not another spoilt princess! :p I don't think Loki would take kindly to having other girlies in with her, she only allows less colourful fish to live with her, hehe. I made a video of her but it is real bad, will try again soon and send you a video. She is sooo cute and is quite the little madam nowadays!

Well if there's one you like I'll grow it on for a year just to be sure it's a boy  Although the spawn that this pair came from were much easier to sex than some of our others.

Sounds like she's entering her teenage years and doesn't want to be upstaged....can't blame the girl!!!!!

Look forward to a video....that would be great. We just got one but I don't know how to use it yet let alone download and upload on the computer

As the eggs are released from the female, the male releases his sperm to fertilize the eggs.

One of the problems that some breeders get, is that the female will sometimes release her eggs early so it's highly unlikely that those eggs will be viable.

Even though I've syphoned eggs up, hopefully because he was wrapping her they should have been fertilized ok and will hatch in the floating tub I've put them in.
