Picked this guy up on Friday, settled in pretty well with my other geos - took a bit of a beating from the bull male but doing pretty good.

Fairly certain they are Satanoperca Daemon but if anyone can confirm that would be great :) They were the only one in with a mix of Lucostica and Juriparai so grabbed him with the intention to get a few more if I find them.

I swapped him for my Leopoldi Angels as they were proving problematic at best.

Yes that is a daemon you lucky lucky ******** Why is it everywhere but the midlands seems to be selling the Jurupari!! I want 2 more

Yup, definately daemon.

Picked up a little leucosticta myself a few days ago, same size as yours. Confident little blighter too. I like the Satanopercas much more than Geophagus, personally. They seem to bicker less and to be much more intersted in actual eartheating too, which is a very attractive part of their personality.

Nice looking Daemon Wills, a few buddies would help him settle in, although generally they arent a shy fish. Not sure how much you've read up on these guys, but keep your water in tip top condition, large regular changes and temperature as close to 30-32c as possible, from previous experience with some I had a while back they can go down hill quickly if the right conditions arent met, I lost one to neo-tropical bloat, luckily the other four where fine, but you cant let the water quality slip. I know you dont, so this is preaching to the converted, just a small warning though. As you can from my sig pictures, these guys really colour up as they mature, although personally I still think they are beautiful even when young.

Yeah the only thing Im not meeting is the temperature, heater is set to 27 but the tank just sits at 29 all the time. He is really confident at the moment, but he does have a torn pectoral fin thanks to the large geophagus....

29c will be fine, I had to drop my temp for a few days to 28c when I added my Metae, although they can live at the higher temps, just whilst they settled and have now raised it back to 30c. From what Ive read and there is little information on these guys, to breed, the temp really needs to be up more to 32-34c. My two are constantly in breeding mode, come so close to actually laying the eggs (and may even have laid eggs without my seeing) but for some reason the deed hasnt been completed. I think my ph is too high for them to successfully bred/raise fry, but I shall keep trying with them.

Being that much more placid than geophagus, the geophagus will likely always come out on top.

Out of interest, roughly how much did you pay for him/her? They have 2" ones near me for £15 each (found after I bought my two), mine are around 9-10" and were £40 each!!!!!

Tell you what £40 for them is not bad! Mine was £9. Im not worried about him at the moment as he is quite zippy and seems to brush the chasing off and go back to searching for food haha. The big geo will settle down he usually does, or get put in his place by my nic haha
